We are a historical and educational society dedicated to preserving the memories and testimonies of the enlisted men and women of WW2.

We display the equipment and effects of the standard front line infantry of the North west european campaign during the final stages of the conflict in Europe.

We aim to recreate the camp and battle experiences of the front line tommy throughout this period.

Working closely with the veterans associations the Tommy Atkins society aims to promote the roles and importance of the average British infantryman representing the 1st Batallion Leicestershire Regiment, 49th West Riding Divison

If you have an interest in military history or the equipment of the British infantry why not consider joining us or trying out living history for the weekend to see if it is the hobby for you.

Feel free to approach us at any show and ask for Private Baker who will happily have a chat with you and whip up a brew.

We can accomadate anyone above the age of 17 and have plenty of kit to lend you for the weekend for free.

Our group can field up to 2 sections of the British Army including a Bren section as well, also the Tommy Atkins motorpool is constantly growing with a Willys Jeep, despatch riders and there bikes.

Our display would normally consist of a living history encampment or scene recreation with a show and tell museum attached.

This allows the public to see the soldiers doing normal everyday tasks that the infantry would undertake while at the same time having the ability for an hands on approach, letting the public to take a look at, handle and wear the kit the Infantry would have worn in an everyday situation.
